Options Program

For high school students with disabilities

The Options Program provides a student-centered learning environment for individuals with diagnosed intellectual disabilities. The curriculum, activities and community involvement focus on development as a whole person  individualized academic progress, spiritual education and communication and life skills. An integral part of the Eastside Catholic community, the primary mission of the Options Program is to engage students in a Catholic faith-based community while preparing them for the transition from high school to a life of independent living through comprehensive career and post-secondary exploration. In lieu of a diploma, Options Program students earn a “Certificate of Completion” at the end of the program.

Athletics & Activities

Options Program students are encouraged to participate in many all-school extra-curricular activities as well as Special Olympics sports offered through the school. A popular club for many students is the Circle of Friends club which is organized by and includes college prep and Options Program students to encourage socialization and understanding within the broader school community.

Special Olympics

Special Olympics consists of four seasons of play. Each participating student has the opportunity to challenge their skills in bowling, basketball, soccer, softball and/or golf. Any student-athlete who participates in an event for two years during their four years at Eastside Catholic School will receive a varsity letter for that sport. By participating in these sports, student-athletes increase their self-confidence and social skills while improving their physical and motor skills.
