Personal and Social Resources

Counselors are available for consultation with parents, students and teachers regarding personal issues. They counsel students experiencing personal crisis and assist in setting up outside referrals for further therapy. Please contact your guidance counselor, Kirsi Varsa (A-K) or Kit Soldato (L-Z) to make an appointment.
Counseling Center Support Groups
One of the services that will be further developed this year is Support Groups. Through surveys, the Counseling Center has identified areas in which EC students want some support and guidance. Possible topics include depression/suicide, grief/loss, divorce, anger management, career education, stress/anxiety and dating concerns/relationships. Typically, groups may run for 6 to 8 weeks with 8 to 10 participants. Sessions would meet on a weekly basis. Guidelines for each group will be written so parents and students know the expectations. Please contact your counselor if you are interested in participating in a group or you know of someone who may benefit from such a group.

High School/Middle School Mentorship
This program, developed out of the Finding Kind Documentary and presentation, involves high school girls mentoring middle school girls in grade-level groups during advisory and other events. The Counseling Department in conjunction with designated high school and middle school teachers will be a part of the training and organizing of these activities. Please contact the guidance counselors if you have any questions.
