Fostering spiritual and personal growth

Campus Ministry Leadership Class
As part of our overall leadership training program at Eastside Catholic, high school students may elect to take a Campus Ministry Leadership Class that helps facilitate school liturgies, retreats, and community service programs. High school student ministers work with our middle school students to help them develop their own leadership skills.

Retreats help focus individual spiritual growth while also creating a deeper sense of connection and commitment to one's community. All retreats are led by student ministers with faculty support.

  • Middle school students have a class retreat day during the school year where time is set aside for them to reflect on themes relevant to their spiritual formation.
  • Freshmen have two retreat experiences. The first is the FROSH OVERNIGHT, held a week before school begins. This is a time to begin to bond as a class, and to learn what it means to be an Eastside Catholic Crusader. A second day-long AGAPE retreat is held in the spring to reflect on the progress they have made on their journey as a class.
  • Sophomores make a day-long REACH retreat, where students are trained to become leaders in creating a climate of acceptance, respect and mutual support at school and in the greater community.
  • Juniors and seniors can participate in a three-day retreat known as DESTINY. This is a more intense time of prayer, play, sharing and growth. God's powerful love for us, and our vocation to share that with others, are the focal points of the weekend.
  • Seniors begin their final year of high school with a PILGRIMAGE, a 15-mile hike interspersed with prayer, activities, talks and small-group faith sharing.
  • Seniors also have the option of making the EMMAUS retreat, which is meant to build on the DESTINY experience and prepare them for the coming journey into their college education.
