Campus Ministry is proud to partner with Senior Lola Togia to collect donations for American Samoa during Celebrating the World Week, November 18-22. At the end of December, Lola will travel to American Samoa to participate in the Samoa Bowl, an annual sports event for football and volleyball. Lola has been selected as a setter on a volleyball team for the event and will collect volleyball gear and supplies for young students that the team can donate as part of their visit.

About the Samoa Bowl
After a seven-year hiatus, the Samoa Bowl returned last year under the Lemanu-Talaluega administration. Initially launched in 2003, the event aims to showcase local talent and provide opportunities for U.S.-based athletes of Samoan heritage to reconnect with their culture. This year, Lola is among the 12 female volleyball athletes, one of two setters, representing the U.S. alongside three other teams in a competition with two local teams.
The event addresses significant challenges faced by local athletes, who lack access to specialized training and safe athletic facilities. As female sports are less recognized than male sports in American Samoa, the team also hopes to change perceptions by proving that women’s sports can be equally impactful.
Beyond competition, Lola’s team will participate in community outreach, supporting a local elderly home, providing supplies to the pediatric department, and hosting a volleyball clinic for local athletes. The team aims to bring donations, including basic volleyball gear, and eventually hopes to supply portable, padded flooring for the tournament court to make the sport safer for players.
The tournament runs from December 23 to December 30, following the team's arrival on December 19.
