Volleyball Hosts 2024-25 "No One Fights Alone" Event to Honor Cancer Fighters

On Thursday, October 10, the Eastside Catholic girls volleyball teams hosted their annual "No One Fights Alone" (NOFA) event, a powerful tradition that brings the community together to raise cancer awareness and honor those affected by the disease. In a sea of custom shirts, both the team and fans proudly wore the names and diagnoses of loved ones who have battled cancer, sending a message of solidarity and support.

The NOFA event was first organized during the 2012-13 volleyball season by the Eastside Catholic volleyball team and Athletic Department to honor the school’s former volleyball coach, Angie McKinnell, who was courageously fighting her fourth battle with cancer at the time. During the 2013-14 school year, one of Eastside Catholic's own volleyball players was diagnosed with cancer, adding an even deeper significance to the event. Since then, the NOFA game has been a reminder that cancer touches the lives of many in the community and that no one fights this battle alone.

Throughout the game, players and fans wore shirts dedicated to family members and friends affected by cancer, turning the volleyball court into a powerful tribute to those who have faced this challenging illness. The event is a testament to the strength of the Eastside Catholic community, where love, support and unity continue to uplift those in need.
