Health & Safety Expectations

All members and guests of EC have a shared responsibility to prevent the spread of COVID-19, on and off-campus.

We are grateful for the efforts of our community members to work together to prevent community spread and keep the transmission of the virus to a minimal level. Camp participants and families must commit, in collaboration with the school, to follow public health practices, guidance and safety procedures.

Our ability to offer summer camps and stay open depends on everyone working together to prevent and reduce the spread of COVID-19 and mitigate the risks associated with on-campus activities to keep everyone as safe as possible. Please review the below health and safety expectations of Eastside Catholic camp participants and families for our summer camp programs.

  • Follow federal, state and local orders.
All families and employees are expected to follow directives from national, state and local authorities to maintain their own health and safety during this pandemic. These include Washington State Department of Public Health, Public Health - Seattle and King County, and the CDC Guide on Protecting Yourself and Others.

  • Contact the Summer Camp Registrar if a family member tests positive for COVID-19.
If a camper or member of their household tests positive for COVID-19, a parent/guardian must notify the school as soon as possible. Please contact Summer Camp Registrar Liz Anderson with questions or to report a positive COVID-19 test result. This information will remain confidential and allow the school to engage in effective contact tracing procedures to limit possible infection of others. Any summer camp participant who tests positive may only return to camp after following the mandates of the Department of Health (DOH).

  • Stay home if sick.
Campers showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 must not attend summer camps. Parents or guardians must keep them at home and away from others and report the illness to Summer Camp Registrar Liz Anderson. Please review information about COVID-19 symptoms provided on the CDC website.

  • Stay home if exposed.
If the State Health Department has notified anyone in your household that they were in contact with an individual infected with COVID-19, you must notify Summer Camp Registrar Liz Anderson as soon as possible. Based on the circumstance, you may be asked to keep your camper home.

  • Keep medical information up to date.
All participants must submit a medical waiver with family and emergency contacts to participate in Eastside Catholic summer camps.

  • Wear a face covering over nose and mouth.
  • All camp participants are required to wear a cloth face covering at all times while on campus. Gaiters, bandanas and masks with respirator valves are not allowed due to evidence that they are not as effective as other face masks. Face shields may be worn in addition to a mask but are not a substitute for a mask. If someone forgets or does not have a properly fitted mask, they can request one from the Summer Camp Registrar. Cloth face coverings need to be laundered daily or after each use. Campers should also refrain from touching their masks directly as much as possible. If a camp participant forgets their face covering, one will be provided for them.

  • Practice physical distancing.
All members of the community must adhere to the three-foot physical distancing guidelines. These guidelines will be made explicit through written communication, physical symbols (marks on the ground and signs), verbal reinforcement and behavior modeling.

  • Practice excellent hygiene.
Wash hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds — especially after being in a public place or after blowing your nose, coughing or sneezing. If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub them together until they feel dry. Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

  • Limit social interactions outside of school.
Parents and guardians should limit camp participants’ social interaction outside of school and refrain from participation in large gatherings where a higher risk of COVID-19 transmission exists. Families must partner with Eastside Catholic to ensure that their camper limits their exposure during their time in summer camps and while off campus to mitigate the spread of the disease. Please refer to the CDC guidelines for specifics on social gathering numbers by phase.

  • Avoid unnecessary travel.
Anyone traveling outside of Washington state must follow our Out of State Travel and Close Contact Exposure Guidelines. These guidelines provide quarantine guidelines for those that have not been vaccinated and have never had a COVID-19 diagnosis, those that have had a prior COVID-19 diagnosis and those that have been vaccinated.

COVID-19 Refund Policy

At Eastside Catholic School, the safety and security of our students and staff are our top priority. Although we cannot predict what public health officials will recommend going forward, at this time we are planning to hold our 2021 Summer Camps as scheduled. We reserve the right to cancel camps to ensure the health and safety of students and employees. Our refund policy has been amended to include refunds for summer camps in the event of cancellations due to COVID-19. Please contact Summer School Registrar Liz Anderson with questions.

SUMMER PROGRAMS Refund Policy

Refunds are given only when Eastside Catholic cancels a camp. Refunds are not given when the camp is held but a student does not participate in the camp for any reason. Summer program participants are expected to comply with all program policies, including behavior that is respectful to instructors and other students, or the student is subject to dismissal from the camp without a refund.
