Brent MerrittHead Coach
This will be Coach Merritt’s third season as head coach of the Crusaders. Before coming to EC, he was an assistant coach at Garfield High School. Coach Merritt attended high school in Oakland where he achieved high honors in both basketball and track and field. He earned a scholarship to the University of Washington where he played basketball and ran track. His senior year at UW, Coach Merritt averaged 12.6 points per game and 2.5 steals under Coach Lynn Nance. In 1990, he earned All-American honors for track and field, and in 1991 at the Pac-10 Championships, he won first place in the mens 4x400 and second place in the 400m. After college, Coach Merritt went on to play basketball in the Brazilian Professional League from 1993-2001, consistently averaging 20 points per game. Coach Merritt works as an Advancement Associate at Eastside Catholic and resides in Seattle.
Reggie PaulAssistant Coach
The Crusaders welcome back Coach Paul for his third year on our coaching staff. He was born and raised in Inglewood, California where he played varsity basketball for Inglewood High School. After high school, he attended Grays Harbor College in Aberdeen, Washington, where he became an All-American, two-time league MVP and an all-star. He has been inducted into the Grays Harbor College Hall of Fame and the NWAACC League Hall of Fame. After attending Grays Harbor for two years, he was awarded a scholarship to Seattle Pacific University where he earned All-League honors his junior and senior years. Coach Paul played overseas for five seasons in Holland, Israel and Japan where he earned all-star honors and was one of the leading scorers in the league in three of those seasons. His coaching resume includes coaching as a graduate assistant at Seattle Pacific and coaching at Ingraham, Ballard, Evergreen and Garfield high schools. In the past seven years, Coach Paul has helped coach young men along with winning back-to-back state championship titles. He loves coaching and sharing all of his knowledge and experience. He is extremely honored to be coaching at Eastside Catholic.
Anthony WhiteAssistant Coach and JV Head Coach
Coach White is in his third season with the Crusaders. Prior to living in the Pacific Northwest, he resided in Toledo, Ohio. He attended high school in Libby, Ohio and later served six years in the United States Army. Coach White has enjoyed a long coaching career in high school basketball. He coached for two years as an assistant coach at Mt. Rainier High School before spending eight years as head coach at Evergreen High School in Seattle. While at Evergreen, he was honored as Seamount League Coach of the Year (2010-11) and was the Seamount League Sportsmanship Award Winner (2011-13). This past August, Coach Tony became a deacon at his church in Tacoma, Maranatha Family Worship. Coach Tony has four wonderful children, three girls and a boy, ages 23, 15, 11 and six.
James MacIntyreAssistant Coach
Coach MacIntyre is in his third year as an assistant basketball coach at Eastside Catholic. Coach MacIntyre attended Monroe High School and spent his college years at Carroll College in Helena, Montana, where he played basketball for four years. Coach MacIntyre has coached at the middle school, high school and collegiate levels. He is currently teaching eighth grade humanities here at Eastside Catholic. When he’s not in the gym, Coach MacIntyre enjoys mountain biking, Crossfit, backpacking and eating baby-back ribs.
Spencer KrakerAssistant Coach
Coach Kraker is in his first year as an assistant varsity coach for the Crusaders. Coach Kraker attended and played basketball at Bellevue Christian High School where he was a two-time state champion. He was the team captain and starting point guard on both state championship teams and set all of the schools assist records. Coach Kraker has been coaching basketball at the middle school and high school levels for over 10 years, with stints at Garfield High School and Bellevue Christian High School. He enjoys helping players develop, both on and off the court. He loves scouting and developing game plans to prepare for opponents. We are glad to have Coach Kraker join our staff this season.

The football team handed Garfield High School at 50-7 loss on September 28 after losing to the Bulldogs in the state quarterfinals last year.
The football team earned their first victory of the 2018 season against Central Catholic (Oregon) on Saturday, September 8. They also started a new cinder block celebration in the process.
The Issaquah-Sammamish Reporter previewed the Crusaders upcoming season.
Four Crusaders were named to The News Tribune’s 2018 preseason all-state high school football team while four others received honorable mentions.
Jaylahn (J.T.) Tuimoloau has been named the top sophomore recruit, Class of 2021, in the nation for the by 247Sports.
Eastside Catholic is listed by MaxPreps as the top football team in Washington state going into the 2018-19 season. Way to go Crusaders!
