High School Choir Receives First Place at Music in the Parks Choir Festival in Disneyland

Congratulations to the high school Concert Choir for receiving first place with a superior rating of 197/200 and the Overall High School Choir Award while competing at the Music in the Parks Choir Festival at Disneyland on March 23-26. Forty-seven EC Concert Choir students competed against 17 other choirs from Nevada, California, Utah, Idaho and Arizona. Their fierce competition included 3A and 4A choirs with hundreds of students.

The choir also performed at the Fantasyland Theatre and participated in a professional soundtrack session in the Disney Performing Arts Recording Studio.

“I could not be prouder of these dedicated students,” said Director of Choirs and Liturgical Music and Performing Arts Department Chair Soonja Larsen. “They put in countless hours of rehearsal to prepare and perform with the highest level of professionalism that I have ever seen at the high school level. What these kids do goes above and beyond what they learn in the classroom and even the music itself. They learn how to work together as a cohesive unit and stand behind one another, through thick and thin. They create a loving, accepting and encouraging community. The most important aspect of our choir, and the reason why we took first place this weekend, is that Eastside Catholic Choir students sing with their hearts. Congratulations Concert Choir! Always remember that Real Crusaders Sing!”

Well done Crusaders, we are so proud of you!
