Senior Wassie Lugolobi Inks Commitment to Stanford at EC Signing Day

The Eastside Catholic School community gathered in the Athletic Pavilion to celebrate a milestone achievement for Wassie Lugolobi, '26, as he officially signed his commitment to play football at Stanford University next fall. With students, faculty, staff and Wassie’s family in attendance, the celebration marked the culmination of years of dedication, perseverance and athletic excellence within the Crusaders football program.

Tagged as an explosive linebacker with excellent instincts and positional versatility by national recruiting analysts, Wassie’s contributions to the EC football team helped elevate the program, including multiple state semi-final appearances and strong regular- season performances.

As the signing event kicked off, it was clear that Wassie’s impact extended far beyond the field—his leadership, character, and influence on the broader EC community took center stage.

"Wassie’s talent on the field is undeniable,” Executive Athletic Director Jeff Feller said. “But his character, leadership and commitment as a student-athlete define him.”

Wassie shared reflections on his time playing under the lights on Acosta Field and spoke about the role EC has played in shaping him as both a person and an athlete.

“EC has impacted my journey more than I ever could have imagined,” Wassie said. “I came in during a pivotal time in my life—eighth grade, fresh out of COVID—and EC helped me find my footing and reach goals I didn’t even know how to pursue.”

Expressing gratitude to his coaches, teachers and school administrators, Wassie added, “Every single member of the Eastside Catholic community has shaped me for the better, and I truly mean that. From President Picciotto to the administration, teachers, faculty, staff and fellow students, everyone has played a role in making my EC journey truly remarkable.”

Looking ahead to Stanford, Wassie shared his excitement about continuing both his academic and athletic pursuits while carrying the Crusaders spirit forward.

“At Stanford, I am looking forward to integrating myself into an already thriving and inspiring community,” Wassie said. “I’m excited to continue my studies, learn in new ways, and collaborate with others to make a lasting, positive impact on the world. I hope to carry the lessons EC has taught me forward, refining them as I grow, and using them to help make the world a better place.”

Congratulations, Wassie—your achievements at Eastside Catholic School have been extraordinary, and we look forward to cheering you on in this next chapter.
