EC Students Advocate for Environmental Justice at Seattle University Climate Summit

Several EC students recently took center stage at the annual Seattle University Climate Summit on April 26, where they joined peers, educators and activists in championing environmental justice. Representing the intersection of faith and action, EC students shared how their Catholic values inspire them to care for creation and confront the challenges of climate change.

Drawing from personal research and on-campus experiences, the students presented thoughtful reflections on sustainability, stewardship and the environmental impact of everyday decisions.

A highlight of the event was the chance to meet Dr. Robert Bullard, acclaimed sociologist, author and professor widely known as the "father of environmental justice." Dr. Bullard has advised the White House and former presidents on the links between climate policy and racial equity in urban planning.

The summit offered students not only a platform to speak, but also a chance to be inspired by trailblazers like Dr. Bullard—reinforcing their belief that faith-based advocacy can spark real, lasting change.
