Congratulations to the following seniors who signed National Letters of Intent to participate in college athletics. On April 17, a ceremony was held in the Eastside Catholic Athletic Pavilion to celebrate the accomplishments of these four student-athletes.

• Madelyn Almgren – Lacrosse, Colby College
• Emma Kim – Soccer, Carnegie Mellon University
• Nate Krohn – Basketball, Whitworth University
• Rowin O’Connor – Baseball, Gonzaga University

Athletic Director Stacey Stoutt said, “We are immensely proud of our student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent and commitment letters to play their sport at the collegiate level. This is a significant milestone, not only in their athletic careers but in their lives. We look forward to seeing them excel in the future.”

A National Letter of Intent is a binding agreement issued to prospective student-athletes with full-time financial aid for one year. Prospective student-athletes who enroll for the first time in a four-year institution can sign a National Letter of Intent. Those who start academically at a four-year institution and then transfer to a two-year college also can sign a National Letter of Intent if they plan on entering another four-year institution.

The NCAA Eligibility Center manages the daily operation of the National Letter of Intent program, which began in 1964 and now has 676 Division I and Division II institutions, and the Collegiate Commissioners Association provides governance.
