CYO Track and Field Team Finishes Season Strong at Championship Meet

The CYO Track and Field Team wrapped up an impressive season with a strong showing at the CYO Athletics Championship Meet, where middle school student-athletes delivered personal-best performances and celebrated the progress they made throughout the spring.

A total of 40 student-athletes participated on the team this season, with 33 athletes competing in qualifying meets. Of those competitors, 25 earned spots at the Championship Meet, a testament to the dedication and effort shown throughout the year.

From the first practice to the final race, the student-athletes demonstrated steady improvement across events, with numerous competitors achieving personal-best performances at the season's biggest meet.

Several athletes delivered personal-best performances at the Championship Meet. On the boys side, personal records were set by Bryce B. (100-meter dash), Owen B. (100-meter dash), Christian C. (high jump), David H. (800 meters), Luke N. (800 meters), Ewan S. (800 meters), Jackson S. (1,600 meters), William S. (softball throw) and the eighth-grade boys 4x100-meter relay team of Owen B., Bryce B., Luke N. and Will S.

For the girls, personal-bests came from Saanvi B. (shot put), Mercedes J. (800 meters), Cooper K. (javelin), Izzy K. (800 meters and softball throw), Sofia M. (100-meter dash), Emma N. (shot put), Sithara R. (800 meters) and Wellesley S. (800 meters).

The season will continue for five students who qualified to compete at the Nike Outdoor Nationals later this month in Eugene, Oregon. The eighth-grade boys 4x100-meter relay team of Owen B., Bryce B., Luke N. and Will S. qualified to compete, while Helena L. earned a berth in the seventh-grade girls javelin competition.
