Does EC have an orientation program for new faculty?

Yes! New teachers participate in a two-day New Teacher Orientation in August, followed by a year-long Teacher Induction Program.

During orientation, new hires meet one another and connect with school leaders while learning about EC’s mission, culture, and teaching practices.

The induction program includes:

Monthly cohort sessions led by an expert teacher, offering collaborative learning and practical strategies tailored to new teachers
One-on-one mentorship with a veteran EC teacher for personalized guidance and support

This robust, evolving program ensures that new faculty feel supported, prepared and connected—from day one and beyond.

What opportunities do teachers have to engage with students outside of the classroom?

How would you describe EC's student body?

The student body is a remarkably talented and diverse group! Reflecting our strong desire to create an intentional student body that accurately reflects our larger community, EC students come to us from many neighborhoods around the greater Puget Sound area. They represent over 60 different ZIP codes and more than 40% of our students identify themselves as students of color.

What is a Mentor?

Each faculty member at EC mentors a group of around 15 students, creating opportunities for meaningful adult-student relationships.

In high school, mentor groups stay together for all four years, building long-term connections and sit together during liturgies and some assemblies.
In middle school, mentor groups change annually and are led by grade-level teachers. They participate in activities such as social media usage, academic support lessons, and community-building events such as the Middle School Olympics.

What is EC's commitment to professional development?

Professional growth is a priority at Eastside Catholic School. Faculty benefit from small class sizes, strong collaboration and substantial support for ongoing development.

Teachers regularly attend and present at national conferences, and EC frequently hosts respected educators and speakers on campus. Departments are given professional development (PD) days throughout the year, and faculty may also apply for department chair positions or receive awards that support individual excellence. EC invests significantly in PD each year to ensure our educators remain at the forefront of their fields.

Sammamish and the neighboring communities offer a beautiful natural setting and access to a wealth of outdoor activities.

Located just 15 miles from downtown Seattle, Sammamish provides easy access to top-tier museums, dining, parks and recreation, a world-renowned zoo and botanical garden, music venues, and collegiate and professional sports.

In Sammamish, residents enjoy over a dozen parks and preserves featuring a range of activities—from hiking to cricket to ziplining to skateboarding and more. Sammamish also hosts a vibrant cultural community, with a weekly Farmer's Market, seasonal celebrations and summer concert series.

The Greater Puget Sound region is also home to premier hospitals, world-class research centers and renowned institutions of higher education, including the University of Washington, Seattle University and Seattle Pacific University.
