What Do I Need to Do Before Volunteering?

Student safety is our highest priority. All Eastside Catholic volunteers must complete the Archdiocese of Seattle Safe Environment Training (SET) before volunteering. 

The initial training takes about 90 minutes and only needs to be completed once. Safe Environment Training helps volunteers understand how to:

• Recognize signs of abuse or inappropriate behavior
• Maintain healthy boundaries
• Follow best practices when interacting with students
• Report concerns responsibly

Depending on the volunteer role, additional requirements, including a background check, may apply.

When Should I Complete Safe Environment Training?

We encourage anyone interested in volunteering to complete Safe Environment Training early rather than waiting for a specific opportunity.

Many volunteer opportunities begin as early as the start of the school year with orientations, admissions events, athletics and community celebrations. Completing the required training means you'll be ready when an opportunity that interests you becomes available.
