How We Communicate With Our Community
How We Communicate With Our Community

You Want to Know What We Know!

Four communication essentials that keep our community connected

By Associate Director of Communications Chad Brown '13

Whether you are new to EC or returning, we want to share all the exciting opportunities available for our students, our community and highlight their news and accomplishments. I encourage you to read on to ensure you won't miss key dates, deadlines or details during the school year!

The four primary sources of communication we use are email, our website, social media, and for time-sensitive or emergency notifications, SchoolMessenger.

#1 - EMAIL

From individual emails to email newsletters, emails are a primary communication channel for families.

EC This Week email is sent on Sundays while school is in session to highlight calendar items and essential information for the upcoming week.

The Month Ahead email will be sent the last week of each month with information for the upcoming month. This email is organized by school level with content specifically curated for our parents and guardians. We encourage all families to read this email regularly to stay current on upcoming events, deadlines, volunteer opportunities and more!

Our Good News and School Information newsletter is sent the first Monday of each month. This email shares news and highlights of student and faculty activities, recent events and accomplishments from inside and outside the school. The EC community is incredible, and I look forward to highlighting all the good news that parents, faculty and staff share with us! Send your news to info@eastsidecatholic.org!

Individual emails may also be sent for specific events with specific event details and links to registrations or to communicate school-wide initiatives.

Make sure important school emails arrive in your inbox

Eastside Catholic uses three different systems to send bulk emails: Constant Contact (for newsletters like EC This Week, The Month Ahead and Good News), Canvas (for classroom communications) and SchoolMessenger (for time sensitive alerts).

Please add the below emails to your address book to ensure that critical information from the school is delivered to your inbox (and not your clutter or junk mail).

  1. Add the eastsidecatholic@eastsidecatholic.org  and info@eastsidecatholic.org address to your address book.
  2. Check your clutter or junk folders for emails from the school. Move those emails into your inbox or mark them as not spam.

#2 - WEBSITE AND SCHOOL CALENDAR

Our school website - eastsidecatholic.org - is also an excellent resource for news and information. Two web pages, in particular, are incredibly helpful: the calendar and Parents & Guardians Family Information page.

The calendar includes upcoming events and activities at EC and has a useful filter to select the activities, teams and school levels that pertain to you and your student(s). You can also set the RSS feed button to share info with your personal calendar. And if you are looking for preliminary dates for the next school year, a one-page overview is posted at the top of the calendar webpage.

The Parents & Guardians Family Information page is packed with helpful links to resources and documents organized by school level. You will also find information about parent groups, quick links to the Orange Crush Store, FACTs, lunch menus, Naviance, Canvas, and more. For parents of seniors, bookmark this page for dates and deadlines specific to your student’s final year at EC!

TIP: If you aren’t sure where to find the specific information you are looking for, use the robust Search tool at the top of the website!

#3 - EMERGENCY ALERTS VIA SCHOOLMESSENGER

Eastside Catholic will send timely texts, voice messages and emails to families in the event of an emergency, power outage or weather closure.

You must opt-in to receive alerts:

  • Please text subscribe to 67587 to receive alerts.

If you've already registered for SchoolMessenger through another school or school district, you do not need to register again to receive messages from Eastside Catholic. Eastside Catholic alerts will begin with the school name.

Additional information about school closures due to inclement weather and emergencies can be found in this news story.

#4 - SOCIAL MEDIA

We love to feature our students in the classroom, on the stage, on the playfield or in the community. Eastside Catholic maintains feeds on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn, with Facebook for alums and athletics and a separate Instagram for athletics. If you use social media, we encourage you to follow us. If not, we share our social media feeds on our website, at the top of every webpage.
