The board of trustees is pleased to announce the selection of Tom Lord as interim president of Eastside Catholic School. Mr. Lord is currently working as Eastside Catholic's interim vice principal alongside Principal Polly Skinner. He will start as interim president on July 1, 2014.
Mr. Lord's extensive school administrative knowledge and academic leadership skills will maintain momentum into the 2014-15 school year and during the time it takes the Search Committee to select a permanent president.
Mr. Lord has more than 40 years of educational experience, as a teacher and counselor, and in several top leadership roles, including vice principal at Mercer Junior High, principal at Nathan Hale High School and Meany Middle School, headmaster at Villa Academy and interim president of Archbishop Murphy High School.
Prior to rejoining Eastside Catholic as interim vice principal in February 2014, he was the interim superintendent of Catholic schools for the Seattle Archdiocese and was interim principal for Eastside Catholic High School in 2010-11. Mr. Lord was honored last year as a recipient of the 2013 Archbishop's Award for outstanding contributions to Catholic schools.
A product of Catholic education, Mr. Lord is a graduate of O'Dea High School. He holds bachelor's degree from Seattle University along with a master's in educational administration, and is certified as a teacher and principal in Washington state. Lord and his wife, Mary Pat, recently celebrated 54 years of marriage. They are active members of St. Mark’s parish in Shoreline and are blessed with four children and nine grandchildren.
